What this route costs
Almost everyone taking this trip has a train to catch, which makes it the one route where arriving early matters more than arriving cheaply. Regional V/Line services to Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Traralgon all leave from here, and they do not wait.

How the trip runs
The route runs via Tullamarine Fwy/M2, covering 18 km in about 18 minutes when the road is clear.
In peak hour allow closer to 27 minutes. Once your price is locked in through the booking form, a slow run costs you time but not money.

Southern Cross has separate entrances for regional and metropolitan services, and the Spencer Street frontage is long. Tell us which service you are catching and your driver drops you at the right end of the building rather than the wrong one with a suitcase.

At 18 km and around 18 minutes off peak, this is the quickest of our named routes, because Spencer Street sits on the western edge of the city and the freeway delivers you almost to it without crossing the grid.
Why people take a taxi to the station the bus also serves
The airport bus terminates at Southern Cross too, which makes this the honest comparison. The bus is cheaper. It also runs to its own timetable, fills up at busy periods, and leaves you at the bus bays rather than at your platform. If you are connecting to a booked regional service with luggage, the certainty is usually worth more than the difference.
