The right restraint, fitted before we arrive
Getting to the airport with a young child is hard enough without carrying your own car seat through the terminal and then wondering what to do with it. We fit an appropriate child restraint to the vehicle before your pickup, so it is installed and ready when we get to your door.
A child seat is $40 per trip. It has to be requested when you book, not on the day, because the correct restraint needs to be fitted to the vehicle allocated to your booking.
Tell us the age and weight
Restraint type depends on the child, not just the age. When you book, tell us how old your child is and roughly how much they weigh, and we will confirm which of these is right:
- Rear facing capsule for infants, generally up to around six months.
- Convertible seat for toddlers, usually six months to four years.
- Booster seat for older children, generally four to seven years.
If you are travelling with more than one child, tell us about each of them. We can fit multiple restraints, but the vehicle needs to be matched to the booking in advance.
The rules in Victoria
Taxis in Victoria are exempt from the child restraint requirement that applies to private cars. That is the law, but it is not a recommendation. A properly fitted restraint is safer than a seat belt alone for a small child, which is why we offer them rather than relying on the exemption.
Children under seven are not permitted to travel in the front seat of a taxi, regardless of restraint.
Travelling with a pram
Prams travel free and do not count towards your luggage allowance. A folding stroller fits comfortably in a sedan boot alongside normal cases. For a larger pram, or a pram plus several bags, mention it when you book and we will send a seven seater or a maxi instead, at no extra cost since both are priced the same as a sedan.
