A step up, for when the arrival matters
Silver Service is our premium option. The vehicle is a late model sedan, presented to a higher standard, driven by one of our more experienced drivers. It is the booking to make when you are collecting a client, travelling to something formal, or simply want the trip to feel less like a taxi and more like a car that was sent for you.
The surcharge is $11 on top of the standard fixed fare. Like the maxi surcharge, it does not scale with distance, so on a longer airport run it is a small part of the total.
What is different
- Vehicle standard. Newer sedans, kept to a higher presentation standard inside and out.
- Driver experience. Allocated to drivers with a longer record with us, which matters most on corporate and client facing work.
- Meet and greet available. For $35 your driver waits inside the terminal with a name sign for up to an hour, rather than meeting you at the kerb.
Standard, Silver, SUV or Maxi
There are four tiers and only two reasons to move off the standard one: you need more room, or the arrival matters. Reading it across: Silver costs $11 more than standard and carries exactly the same four passengers and four bags, so you are paying for the vehicle and the driver rather than for space. The SUV costs $17.80 more and does give you the space, seven bags against four, but still only seats four. The maxi is the same $17.80 and is the only one of the four that takes more than four people.
The surcharge is flat in every case. It does not scale with distance, so on a long airport run it is a smaller share of the fare than it looks here, and on a short one it is a larger share.
When it is worth it
For a routine trip to the airport, a standard sedan does the same job for $11 less and we will tell you that. Silver Service earns its surcharge when someone else is in the car: a client arriving from interstate, a candidate coming in for an interview, a guest travelling to a wedding, or an executive who needs to arrive composed.
It is also the option most people choose for the trip home after a long haul flight, where the difference between a tidy car and a tired one is more noticeable than usual.
