What this route costs
Southbank is hotels, the casino complex and the arts precinct, so this route runs heavily to conference arrivals, theatre bookings and weekend stays. It carries a higher toll than the CBD run despite being a similar distance, because of where the route leaves the freeway.
The two directions are priced slightly differently. A trip starting at the airport carries the $5.26 airport pickup fee, which is set by the airport and charged by every operator. Heading to the airport, it does not apply.

How the trip runs
The route runs via Tullamarine Fwy/M2, covering 21.5 km in about 21 minutes when the road is clear.
In peak hour allow closer to 32 minutes. Once your price is locked in through the booking form, a slow run costs you time but not money.

Getting to the door in Southbank
Southbank hotel entrances are mostly off the promenade rather than on it, and several share a single service road. Tell us the hotel and your driver uses the right entrance rather than the nearest kerb.
Arriving late at night?

Southbank hotels mostly face the promenade, but their vehicle entrances are on the service roads behind, and several share one entry. Conferences, the arts precinct and the casino complex
Three things drive this route: events at the convention centre, performances in the arts precinct, and stays at the casino complex. All three produce arrivals in clusters, which is the worst time to be joining a taxi queue at the airport, and the best reason to have a car already allocated.
A higher toll than the city, over a similar distance
Southbank is only a few kilometres further than the CBD but carries a noticeably higher toll, because of where the route leaves the freeway network to cross the river. It is already inside the price we quote. We mention it because a metered fare would add it at the end and it is the sort of thing that turns an expected fare into an unexpected one.
Late finishes
Performances and functions end well after public transport thins out. We run 24 hours with no night rate, so a pickup at midnight after a show costs what the same trip costs at midday.
