What this route costs
Geelong is the longest route on this list and the one people most often assume will be unaffordable. It runs west around the city rather than through it, so despite being the longest trip published here it carries no toll at all.
The two directions are priced slightly differently. A trip starting at the airport carries the $5.26 airport pickup fee, which is set by the airport and charged by every operator. Heading to the airport, it does not apply.

How the trip runs
The route runs via Metropolitan Ring Rd/M80 and Princes Fwy/M1, covering 81.6 km in about 61 minutes when the road is clear.
In peak hour allow closer to 92 minutes. Once your price is locked in through the booking form, a slow run costs you time but not money.
There is no toll on this route at all, which is worth knowing on a trip of 81.6 km. Nothing is added to your fare for road charges.

Getting to the door in Geelong
This is also the route to the Bellarine, Torquay and the start of the Great Ocean Road, and those are longer again. If you are going past Geelong, get a price for the actual address rather than assuming the Geelong fare covers it.

The longest route here, and it carries no toll
Geelong is 81.6 km from the terminal, further than anything else on this list, and there is no toll on it at all. The route goes west around the city on the ring road and picks up the Princes Freeway, so it never touches the tolled network that the eastern and southeastern trips rely on. People assume this is the most expensive trip we publish. On distance it is the longest, but the absence of a toll closes more of the gap than they expect.
Around the city rather than through it
Because the route bypasses Melbourne entirely, it is also less affected by city peak hour than the shorter runs. A trip to Dandenong can lose twenty minutes to the Monash at the wrong time of day. This one mostly does not, which makes the timing more predictable for an early flight.
Going past Geelong
Plenty of people booking this route are not stopping in Geelong. The Bellarine, Torquay, Barwon Heads and the start of the Great Ocean Road are all further again, some of them considerably. If your address is past Geelong, get a price for the actual address rather than assuming the Geelong fare will cover it, because it will not.
Avalon is a different airport
Avalon sits between Melbourne and Geelong and is much closer to Geelong than Melbourne Airport is. If your flight is into or out of Avalon, that is a different and shorter trip. We cover both, but they are not the same fare and it is worth being sure which airport your ticket says.
Hospital and university trips
Not all of this route is leisure. University Hospital Geelong and the Deakin campus at Waurn Ponds both generate airport trips, often at awkward hours, and both are past the city centre rather than in it.
